It\u2019s both a boon and a bane being the University of Connecticut Huskies head coach. Dan Hurley is certainly having the time of life after winning two back-to-back NCAA Championships. But like every good thing, there is a different scene unfolding in the background. Hurley has missed time with his family, especially his younger son Andrew Hurley. Taking cognizance of the same, Hurley expressed regret at not getting enough time with Andrew and that must have resonated with a lot of parents. Hurley was present in a chat session of In the Paint episode 4 when he spoke about his twitching nerve that often told him that he had sacrificed a lot to build a successful coaching career.\u00a0\u201cI didn\u2019t have a enough of an appreciation for the, the amount of time that I missed in Andrew\u2019s life when I became a college coach. Getting a chance to kind of get that back, you know, these last three years has been special. You find yourself on the biggest stage in college sports and one of the biggest stages in all the sports March Madness, where he\u2019s closing out games for you or spiking the ball to do cool things. Those are moments we\u2019ll have together that are amazing,\u201d Hurley said on Varsity. Hurley got married to Andrea Hurley in 1997 and is a father to two kids. While his elder son Danny graduated in history in 2021, Andrew chose the same line as his father. He came to the Huskies as a walk-on and has since shared moments of emphatic wins with his father. He has been a part of the Huskies from 2020 onwards and therefore, got the opportunity to spend time with his dad during college. However, previously Hurley must have had a lot of challenges whenever he would have wanted to be with his family. Next, he progressed to Rutgers where he spent 4 years, and in 2001, he got the opportunity to be the head coach for St. Benedict\u2019s Prep. He stayed there from 2001 to 2010. Post that he joined Wagner and Rhode Island before getting with the Huskies in 2018. Thus, Hurley\u2019s coaching career has seen him work for different teams and be busy with that. Meanwhile, Andrew had also in a previous interview expressed his pleasure for coming from a balling family. He thanked his family for making him realize that there is a world outside of basketball and never putting pressure on him to follow the family tradition. He thanked his family for being \u201csupportive\u201d and loving him irrespective of the highs and lows that come with the game. \u201cBut no, I don\u2019t feel any pressure, really\u2026They do a great job of reminding how much they love me \u2026 so it doesn\u2019t really bother me at all,\u201d Andrew had revealed. Meanwhile, Dan had also divulged that he enjoys being in the same locker room as his son. \u201cTo go through basketball with him, it\u2019s really powerful and makes me emotional,\u201d Dan had told FoxSports.
